Skin Treatment In Turkey: Dermatology, Dermatologist Prices in Turkey

Dermatology or skin treatment in Turkey is a medical speciality that deals with skin and appendages (hair and nails) diseases. This is the study of the skin system and its pathologies. Indeed, it includes the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of skin diseases, subcutaneous cellular tissue, mucous membranes and appendages of the skin, and dermatological manifestations of system diseases. A dermatologist performs it.

Skin treatment in Turkey: the field of activity of this speciality is wide.

Dermatology: human skin

The skin, or cutis, is a continuous tissue belonging to the integumentary system. It is composed of three main layers: epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis (or subcutaneous layer) from the outside to the inside.

The human body has a surface area of about 1.5-2 m2, considering an average thickness of the surface layers of 2-3 mm. After skeletal muscles, the skin is one of the largest organs by extension and weight, accounting for 15% of body weight. The skin has two fundamental and exceptional properties :

  1. Self-repair: It regenerates after an injury
  2. Extensibility: It adapts perfectly to changes in body size that occur during the life

What is the importance of this organ?

The skin performs many essential functions :

  • A natural barrier against external aggressions (shock, bacteria, viruses, pollution, ultraviolet rays, cold, trauma, etc.)
  • Place of synthesis of vitamin D essential for osteogenesis
  • Participates in the thermoregulation mechanism
  • Immune defence organ
  • Communication organ with psychosocial function
  • The skin is the organ of a relationship with the outside world and the reflection of various internal disorders, both organic and psychic.

Which diseases affect the skin and its appendages?

Many diseases affect the skin and the skin system. We can distinguish in this regard :

  • Infectious pathologies, namely bacterial infections (erysipelas), parasitic (candidiasis …), viral (mollusc …)
  • Inflammatory and systemic diseases: psoriasis, lupus…
  • Neoplastic diseases: melanomas, carcinomas…

If you notice abnormal symptoms on the skin or appendages, you can consult a dermatologist for skin treatment in Turkey.

How is the consultation for skin treatment in Turkey?

For skin treatment in Turkey, the dermatologist starts by asking the patient’s reason for consultation. It is essential to specify the age of the patient because some diseases rather affect young people (acne, psoriasis …), personal history; some diseases have skin manifestations (lupus, dermatomyositis…), and family history in search of a possible hereditary disease (example xeroderma pigmentosum).

Then the patient should accurately inform his doctor about the start date of the appearance of skin symptoms and any associated signs (fever, other characters).

Cost of skin treatment in Turkey

For skin treatment in Turkey, you can benefit from the services and expertise of the best dermatologist in well-equipped medical units on all levels and at competitive prices. Moreover, for skin treatment in Turkey, dermatologists tend to identify and examine the different pathologies of the skin through tools and technologies developed such as dermatoscopy. This instrument makes it possible to improve ten times the visualisation of the characteristics of small lesions. He very often uses other materials (scalpel to make biopsies …). It is not surprising that a dermatologist asks for additional examinations to advance the diagnosis for skin treatment in Turkey.

Dermatology is a medical-surgical speciality since it represents a two-faceted skin treatment (medical and surgical).

For medical care, the dermatologist prescribes medical treatment based on tablets, ointments, etc. It is the leader in cosmetic surgery when it comes to surgical treatment. Skin treatment in Turkey: Healing fish to fight psoriasis?

According to an experimental study in Austria, an unusual treatment could offer relief to people living with psoriasis. A fish found in Turkish thermal waters is said to effectively rid the skin of dead cells characteristic of this type of chronic disease.

In this study, 67 patients, aged 10 to 75 years, with moderate to severe psoriasis, took a daily hot bath with 250 to 400 Garra Rufa fish 5 cm to 10 cm long. The participants underwent this therapy for three weeks.

Each bath, which lasted two hours, was followed by an ultraviolet (UV) light exposure session. The researchers were inspired by the treatments provided for the past 30 years in a sunny spa located at a high altitude in Kangal, Turkey.

The young fish of the carp family fed on the skin scales of the patients efficiently enough to produce tangible results.

Participants were examined before and after the skin treatment in Turkey using a test known as the Psoriasis Area Severity Index (PASI). The study’s authors found that 46.3% of participants experienced significant relief from their symptoms. These subjects had improved their PASI scores by 75%.

The authors hope that clinical trials will be conducted with more subjects to confirm these favourable results.

Currently, there are few options for people seeking to alleviate the symptoms of psoriasis: light therapy, cortisone ointments or medication. About 2% of the Western population is affected by this chronic skin disease.
